World Book Day
A highlight of our school calendar is always World Book Day - a time for us to celebrate the wonderful world of books. We grasp this opportunity to promote reading for pleasure, promote our fabulous school library and to transport children into the magic of an author's imagination.
As well as holding book stalls and bedtime story events, we endeavour to go the extra mile and utterly transform our school into a story setting and organise our day around a bookish theme - be that an author, a genre or an individual book. Recent themes have included: The Wonderful World of Magic, when the children took part in classes including Owl handling and potions; Swallows and Amazons; a Roald Dahl inspired day with creatures from James and the Giant Peach; and and Peter Pan when we all had fencing lessons to help the Lost Boys and where the odd crocodile could be seen roaming the corridor!
World Books Day is a highlight of our annual calendar and is valued by the whole school community.
Have a look a a few photographs from the most recent years below.
World Book Day, 2024 - The Wonderful World of Magic
Roald Dahl Day, 2023 - including Ms Adock, our fabulous librarian and inspiration for our World Book Days as a Golden Ticket!
Swallows and Amazons, 2022 - One to remember, as we performed a dance to tell the story (put together during the day) to parents outside due to Covid-19 restrictions still in place.
