Medication and Health Care Needs
My child needs medication or help with personal care. How is this provided for?
If your child needs medication, we will work with you to write a Health Care Plan detailing their specific needs and symptoms. Parents are required to inform us if their child needs medical care during the school day. We will ensure that staff are trained to administer any medication necessary. Where possible, we encourage children to be as independent as they can be, under the full supervision of staff and with the permission of parents. We keep a record of medication given to children.
If your child needs support with toileting, we will work with you to write an Intimate Care Plan outlining what support is required and the responsibilities of staff, parents and the child. Again, our aim is for children to be as independent as they can be.
You will find a copy of our Intimate Care Policy and our Policy Statement for Children with Health Needs in the 'Policies' section found under the 'Key Information' tab.
